Step 1: make sure you have your rows matched up with the table you plan on importing the xls file into SQL with; otherwise you’ll end up with mis-matched columns.
Step 2: go to save file in excel and save file as a tab delimited txt file.

Step 3: open up the txt file in notepad and copy a tab, then go to replace and paste the tab in the “find” field and in replace use a semicolon or w/e you want to use to end your fields.

Step 4: log onto phpmyAdmin if you haven’t already and select the table you want to add/replace the data to.

Step 5: depends on your version of phpmyAdmin but there should be an import tab at the top; click it then select “and then browse for your txt file. Make sure “Fields terminated by” is what you used to end the fields; probably a semi-colon. make sure both “Fields enclosed by” and “Fields escaped by” are left empty. Leave lines terminated by on auto and Column names blank.

Step 6: press go and you should be good.

Religion is the focal point of millions of people’s lives and has influence over every aspect of my daily life. Faith has been revered as an admirable attribute to have and since 90% of Americans believe in god, we can assume that it is still being indoctrinated into helpless children’s minds. Of course the religious mind would argue, “Why is this a bad thing”? Doesn’t faith promote moral discipline and charity? If we where all Atheist, wouldn’t the world be a bleak boring place full of murderers and rapists? If you read on I’d like to answer these questions and more as best I can.
People blame lack-of-belief for the suffering the Nazi’s caused during World War 2 often times. I would argue against this because the German people where not driven by a sense of individuality and non-compensation for the in-human acts they where doing. They needed to think that they where going to get a piece of the pie. The Nazi’s preached self-sacrifice and sense-of-duty to the German people and this was the motivating factor behind their deviance. In sum: Faith in government and a sense of self-sacrifice for something beyond you was responsible for the deaths of millions of people during WWII.
Had the Germans been Atheistic, they would have perceived reality better. They would think more on the individual level and not trying to serve a dictator. Faith – the absolute belief in something without proof, is a dangerous thing. Confidence – the solution. Confidence in government when they make right choices is the better alternative. Questioning - has only been made into a degenerative attribute due to the power of faith in our society. Always doing what you’re told, no matter what, is admirable. In a little something some of us call “reality”, unquestioning belief is the degenerate attribute.
Good people believe in god. I will definitely not argue this. It is obvious that many capable people believe that when they die they will go to some form of “heaven”. Church’s usually encourage 100% believe in God; Faith. Something you can not argue: it is illogical to have 100% belief in anything you can not take in with any of your 5 senses. Faith is acquired through “feelings”, powerful emotions are supposed to overcome you when you pray or receive any sort of “spiritual” experience.
Religion trains the mind to think irrationally. To go on feeling. Not what we can perceive and make comparison to; i.e.: logic. Perhaps “Genius” religious zealots wiped out faith in every other aspect of their lives but used faith when professing their belief in the un-perceptible. Or perhaps some where deceptive cowards and would profess belief in god but where secretly Agnostic or Atheist. To me, this kind of self-deception leads to terrible things. Pedophilia or insanity seems to be the typical out-comes.
Holding anything and everything accountable to reality is not a sin. It is not a temporarily satisfying thing to do: exercising mental discipline, but it is the right thing. If our individual judgments where exercised more; there would be a more utopian life in our section of the universe. Feelings are good for 1 thing: feeling. It is good to know when you are satisfied, happy, depressed, or angry. But feelings should never be used to interact with an imaginary character.
I don’t want to go into too much detail into this because of my lack of experience but from what I have observed is that our prison systems are full of Christianity. The philosophy of: “Whatever you’ve done in the past is forgiven, as long as you believe”. With this kind of promise in mind it’s no doubt that barely any prisoners are atheist. They gladly except that a man who could raise the dead, turn water into wine and had never “sinned” … died on the cross for them. To me, the Jesus story is about as logical as there being a fairy kingdom somewhere on this world.
It is also sad to note that because the most revered and perfect “being”, Jesus, suffered and died on the cross for the lowlier forms of life(us); we consider the most lowly things on earth as worthy of helping and the most successful people as worthy of killing. The story of Jesus is a piss-poor example of a perfect philosophy. It is merely an easy one.
When you accept religion into your life you are essentially accepting that you will be giving glory to the god(s) of your choosing in everything you do. And again, due to the influence of religion, this is revered as a great thing. To accomplish something and give all, or even just some, of the credit to God. This way of thinking; defeats the purpose of us being alive. We should be living in accordance with our desires, our thoughts, our lives at the individual level. Living for something other than yourself is in-grown selfishness. You take something that exists, your will to succeed, and turn it into something un-natural: the will to do for others. This may sound glorious and admirable, it is not. It devalues success, decreases motivation, and makes others dependant on you. It is no way to live.
In summary: even though religious works (Bible, Koran) are completely open to interpretation; it is the teachings of faith and lack of self-independence that leads to a non-functional society. Thanks for reading.

Lately I’ve been reading about Objectivism; a philosophy thought up by Ayn Rand and I can absolutely relate to every piece of it. I would like to put out a simple summary of it written by Ayn Rand and I hope you find it interesting.
by Ayn Rand
At a sales conference at Random House, preceding the publication of Atlas Shrugged, one of the book salesmen asked me whether I could present the essence of my philosophy while standing on one foot. I did as follows:
- Metaphysics Objective Reality
- Epistemology Reason
- Ethics Self-interest
- Politics Capitalism
If you want this translated into simple language, it would read: 1. “Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed” or “Wishing won’t make it so.” 2. “You can’t eat your cake and have it, too.” 3. “Man is an end in himself.” 4. “Give me liberty or give me death.”
If you held these concepts with total consistency, as the base of your convictions, you would have a full philosophical system to guide the course of your life. But to hold them with total consistency—to understand, to define, to prove and to apply them—requires volumes of thought. Which is why philosophy cannot be discussed while standing on one foot—nor while standing on two feet on both sides of every fence. This last is the predominant philosophical position today, particularly in the field of politics.
My philosophy, Objectivism, holds that:
- Reality exists as an objective absolute—facts are facts, independent of man’s feelings, wishes, hopes or fears.
- Reason (the faculty which identifies and integrates the material provided by man’s senses) is man’s only means of perceiving reality, his only source of knowledge, his only guide to action, and his basic means of survival.
- Man—every man—is an end in himself, not the means to the ends of others. He must exist for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself. The pursuit of his own rational self-interest and of his own happiness is the highest moral purpose of his life.
- The ideal political-economic system is laissez-faire capitalism. It is a system where men deal with one another, not as victims and executioners, nor as masters and slaves, but as traders, by free, voluntary exchange to mutual benefit. It is a system where no man may obtain any values from others by resorting to physical force, and no man may initiate the use of physical force against others. The government acts only as a policeman that protects man’s rights; it uses physical force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use, such as criminals or foreign invaders. In a system of full capitalism, there should be (but, historically, has not yet been) a complete separation of state and economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of state and church.

Hi, this is about why I think that being agnostic is something that should only be reserved for Animals.
As human beings we’ve been given the gift to judge and discern the world around us, unlike any other animal. Obviously our intellect sets us apart from the rest of life on earth. We discern apples from oranges and so on. So why, I have to ask, does Agnostism seem so popular compared with Atheism? Let me please ask some questions:
Bigfoot: Do you believe in Bigfoot? I mean, there is some evidence to prove that Yetis/Sasquatches/Bigfoot exists/existed yet one was never caught and all the film of them seems sketchy. No real solid proof right? I would give Bigfoot a 10% chance (in my best judgment) of existing or having existed considering the lack of evidence to disprove Bigfoot. Seems fair I hope.
Witches: Throughout post-Christian history there has been a fear of sorcery and witches. Today this seems like hogwash right? I mean come on, no one can turn you into a frog or fly on a broom. But than again, considering that it has been so prevalent and some of it, given religion to be true, could happen; I would give witches a 0.1% probability of actually existing.
The Flying Spaghetti Monster: Incase you missed the FSM boat, it is a farce religion started in Kansas to counter a school board ruling to teach creationism along side evolution in school. It claims that a flying Spaghetti monster created the universe and all sorts of other shenanigans. Seems pretty obvious to me that there is no FSM, but can I disprove this Flying Spaghetti Monster as my creator? Nope. Gee, guess I better still consider the FSM incase it turns out to be true…
I would give the “FSM” a 0.00000000000000000000000001% chance of being true.
Let us please do some pretending! Imagine Bigfoot is revered as a god and has his own religion and also pretend that worshiping Bigfoot is just as acceptable as worshiping Jesus or Allah or whatever. Let’s say that these people who worship Bigfoot have to give money to the “Church of Bigfoot” and also attend meetings every Wednesday to worship their lord and savior. If one of the more devout ones was your brother or sister and you felt as though he/she was wasting her time and money on Bigfoot; would you remain Agnostic in respect to Bigfoot? I mean there is some sufficient evidence and let’s pretend people had been believing in Bigfoot for a long time.
The truth is, for me anyway, is that I regard Bigfoot with a higher superstition than all of our religions. It seems obvious to me through everyday experience, the theory of evolution, and what scientist have observed of the stars, and more, that our lives are not being dictated nor where created by a divine being. Of course, I must leave room for doubt, and considering how prevalent religion is, I will give “God” a 1% chance of existing.
This gives me a 1% chance to go to hell. I would rather go to hell considering I know too many people who will “go to heaven”, and for me to be around those people for eternity, heaven would truly be hell.
In complete seriousness: How can we look at all the trouble in the middle east today, stemmed from religion, and still remain Agnostic? Religion is one of the few things in this world that should not be tolerated. So please, if you are “Agnostic”, for the sake of our future; don’t be.

There are a lot of people who would like you to believe that Atheism was started by the “Devil” and can only be a label that scum (with no moral codes) belong to. Please look at the stats on the religious make-up of the world
- Monotheists
Christians 33%, Muslims 21%
- Reincarnationists
Hindu 13%, Buddhist 6%
- Ethno Religions
Chinese 6.3%, tribal 4%
- Non-religious groups
Non-religious and agnostic 11.9%, anti-religious and atheist 2.3%
(This information taken from World Christian Encyclopedia.)
Clearly, there are many more Agnostics than Atheists.
I don’t think I need to explain all the irrationality, and therefore harm, religion has caused throughout history. I can’t blame most people throughout history for being superstitious. They really didn’t have much information available to them at the time. Today we really have no excuse but cowardice. I could say “stubbornness”, but no, stubbornness is merely the result of lacking the courage to look at truth in the face.
Athiesm is not a religion; it really is what was there all along - nothing. It is simply the disarment of superstitious thought. The acceptance of logic and refusal of bull-shit. It is simplicity and spending your life only concerned with your life.
Atheism certainly should not mean an abandonment of morals (as so many fanatics try to label it as). As an Atheist I easily transitioned from being a Christian to an Atheist while keeping all previous values I had before. I even was able to be true to those values even more so as an Atheist because I no longer felt the need to lie to myself and others about what I thought.
So why declare your self an Atheist? Unless you live in a place where you would lose your job, family, or life over coming out about abandoning superstition, you should come out as soon as possible. Reasons being: religion steals your time, steals your money, steals some of your logic, and steals your sense of individuality.
And if any of you old Pascal loving bible thumpers or even Deists want to leave a nasty comment, at least try not to sound too hateful and rude.

I just wanted to write about what I think is poor naming and good in the gaming world. Let me give you a list of names that I think are horrible and typical, then names that are decent.
Horrible:
- XxFergioxX
- This name sucks because you used X’s. X’s make you look like a WWF fan or a Porn director, either way you look that much lower right off the bat from the “retard vibes” your name gives off.
- Venomfang
- This name sucks because, unless you’re playing a game involving venomous spiders, you have to be half retarded if you think this sounds cool or interesting. I have seen so many people lately while playing CoD4 using the word “venom” somewhere in their name. Call of Duty 4 involves shooting people with guns not injecting poison into people. This name fails.
- Purple_sky
- I have a hunch that the word “sky” is somehow popular in the Japanese culture. But for some reason to me this sort of name gives off the feeling that the user of this name is a livin’ a little too much in the fantasy world. Names like “purplesky” and “lovedream” have their place I suppose but I would doubt the depth of those who choose to name themselves such.
- AngryChaos
- OK, this name is for 12 year olds who are making an attempt at having an intimidating name but instead end up looking like a steroid addict. Plus the word chaos, to me, in gaming circles seems way too cheesy.
- The666Reaper
- Once again, like venomfang, Using nouns in your name just shows how little of an imagination you have when it comes to thinking of a good name. I’m sure if there had been a real reaper he wouldn’t have wanted to name himself “thereaper”.
- DevilDude
- As if this didn’t already include a religious figure but also had to include the term “dude” by it. I know you trying to look hip/ negate the severity of the word “devil” in this case, but please, don’t use the word dude. Way too corny.
- lli345yyuu
- This one doesn’t really need explaining but as a rule: if you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it.
OK, now that I’ve shown some terrible names, how about ones I think are …acceptable.
- Asmodeous
- Well this is one that anyone could have made up; it sounds unique and actually sounds like it could be a real name.
- Logan456
- This one I don’t particularly like but it doesn’t make me cringe either. Logan is an actual name and since it’s pretty common, adding some numbers is not terribly upsetting.
- JohnTheProphet
- Ah yes, another religious figure. Only this time there is no dude attached and plus it sounds kind of creative.
- Dex
- This name is great because it’s 1 syllable, is a reference to dexterity, and could also be short for Dexter. Why don’t more people go through the extra effort to think of better names?

“needed” - let me add that this should be post-tense, pre-tense, and present-tense. Now that a large portion of America’s youth have officially had a healthy “shot in the arm” with Dr. No’s libertarian love potion. I just wanted to contribute to the aftermath of his 2008 presidential bid.
Ron Paul did not win the republican primary nomination, not that we thought he was going to. But what did happen is a world-wide awakening to the philosophy of libertarianism. Limited government. Fiscal Conservatism with liberal Drug and Marriage laws. Keeping Big brother out of your business.
If it wasn’t for Ron Paul I would still see a fairly bleak future for America and much more of the “western” world. Instead, I see in the next 20 years (if the older generation doesn’t completely screw it up by then), great political change. Taking control away from our leaders and putting it in the hands of individual’s. I know everyone did not agree with Dr. Paul’s exact policies, but every sane person should agree on the message: absolute freedom for the individual.
Not achievable? Ah yes, the nay-sayers are many, backed by back-woods know-how and the Murphy’s law calendar. “Isolationism”, if you watched any of the republican debates you have had to have heard it. Ron Paul was called it several times in attacks against his sanity. Isolationism includes: “There should be legal barriers to control trade and cultural exchange with people in other states.” - This is completely what Ron Paul was not about. The Media hated him.
Man I just gotta say, and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, “FUCK YOU!!!!” to each media pundit who belligerently criticized and attacked Ron Paul during interviews and discussions. This is my future damnit, you already are doing a great job of fucking it up, so please don’t ruin the chances for a non-corrupt presidency. Apparently, too much to ask I’ve been told.
OK, so we have our doubters, detractors, and critics. Having simple Government sounds like a pretty complex thing to do. Why is this? There are very manipulative people in our world who have weaseled there way up the ladder of authority that now stand between what we want and their agenda. No, I’m not advocating conspiracy, I’m simply implying that somewhere along the lines the American people stopped running the show and now the TV dictates who is in power. Does that sound crazy? It shouldn’t!
“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”
-Thomas Jefferson
There was silence after World War 2. People had too much faith in their Government. Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and now, George W., are part of a network of privileged individuals who, from what we’ve all seen the affects of, want to: increase government spending, broaden the scope of government, increase control of government in our lifes, increase the complexity of government responsibility, and promote waging any little, or large-scale, war we see fit as part of the job role of these United States.
Do you have to have a law degree to see this is not the right path we want for our government, or to even see that this is taking place before our eyes? We should be adding AND trimming government and putting our leaders on a tighter leash.
In conclusion, Ron Paul made a bigger difference in this country than you’re going to hear about for a while. Republicrats are not the answer anymore. Libertarianism is my way, and it was the founding fathers way so I don’t see why it can’t be all our way. More freedom for the individual, government used to fulfill its intended purposes, and a sane foreign policy. Remind me again why I should ever vote for a wanna-be communist Liberal or lie-to-your-face Republican? Frankly there are none if you are educated, educated as far as free-thinking and truth goes anyway.

Hey, don’t join the army at this time. It’s pretty simple to agree with that but a lot of people have strong feelings against people like me who would like to eventually see a sustainable world.
It has come to my attention (a long time ago) that people don’t mind putting themselves in harms way in defense of their country. I should know, I’m one of them. Had I been born in the 1900’s - 1920’s I would have gladly served in WWII. Probably the only legitimate war these United States of America has fought in the last 200 years (yes, including the civil war as an ill-advised war).
Today instead of facing Germans and Japanese motivated by their sense of superiority to take over the world, we have “extreme Islamist”. An entire religion that has a superiority complex and views the entire western world as enemies of Allah, or whatever joke of a made up deity they choose to spend their meaningless lives in praise of. And oh yes, do be careful when labeling them as anything because not only is it implying somthing offensive about religion in general, but you might get a suicide bomber knocking at your doorstep the next day for saying anything offensive about these religious whack-job, ignorant, and just plain shit-headed, as in their heads are filled with shit, “extreme Muslims”.
And incase you where wondering, in this case, shit = lies, false information, brainwashing, etc.
I was watching a show the other day, a biography about modern Muslims living in… “America!” Of course it showed how this one white woman had been converted to the “religion of peace”(-a quote from our president), Islam, and how she was proud to wear a shroud everywhere because it was her own personal “jihad”. Yup. I guess we can all believe whatever the hell we want to believe and expect peace to come to this world. Not gonna happen.
Islam should not be fought with guns, that is stupid, though most people don’t understand the complexity of that concept. Islam and radical ideas all-together need to be countered with knowledge. We are at a very strange time in our existence and I’m proud to be a part of it I suppose. The main-stream populations of modern countries are able to acquire and share massive amounts of knowledge for the first time ever. Other countries are still, lingering.
Look at China, its economy is growing by leaps and bounds and I think it’s great. As a people they have definitely earned it. I believe the reason why they (and Japan) have been able to adapt to western civilizations so quickly with being so newly introduced to it, is because they do not have strong religious barriers to cross over to adapt to new routines of daily life.
OK, so why not join the Military at this time? Easy question in defense of not joining. Well for one thing Iraq is not even nor was a hot-bed of terrorism. Yet we invaded Iraq. OK, why? Because congress and the military had plans already on the table to invade Iraq before 9/11. 9/11 simply gave them the go-ahead to execute “operation freedom”.
Hey, if you’re in the armed services and you just so happen to read this, just want to let you know, I do respect the fact that you are willing to put your life on the line for this country’s citizens, both illegal and legal. But I simply think you made a bad choice at this time to serve for a war conceived under false-accusations (WMD) and expecting false results from it. (Native-run democracy in Iraq).
It’s another Vietnam. Even if we do “win” we will have lost billions of billions of dollars and thousands of American lives. It’s simply a war not worth fighting and our country’s leaders don’t seem to care too much about that.
If you want to defend yourself and others you care about, that’s great. But I would hate to see any deserving young man or woman die over in Iraq, ‘cause I would rather have the terrorist come get me honestly. (Which wouldn’t happen anyway.)
Oh yeah, and a lot of what’s put out on TV today as acceptable is portraying anti-Iraq war protestor’s as weak and cowardly with a weak moral-code, while portraying soldiers as Tough and Macho with “Christian” values. Well I guess I should throw them this bone because I’ll admit they are putting their lives on the line for a bunch of bull-shit, so please believe that you’re also a tough guy too if that makes you feel better. If being manipulated by evil and crooked politicians into serving them for a “war” not worth dying for is tough, I’d rather die having a bunch of main-stream Neanderthals believe I was a coward. Also, I’ve seen those “strong” religous inspired moral codes of “have a beer and get sum” attitude on saturday then cry about it to Jesus on sunday like you acctually give a shit; it’s just those good ol’ southern values you was raised on I suppose.
In conclusion, if you think I sound like I’m taking this a little too seriously, I’ll let you know what I think. I’m not taking it seriously enough and that’s the problem with most people. The war in Iraq and the problems with religion today are never going to be solved unless we start speaking out against them in a serious fashion. The “wouldn’t it be nice” attitude, thinking the world can’t be a better place - things are the way they are, is so typical of the average person I come into contact with. We can do so much better. It’s time to start holding our leaders accountable, and our expectations higher.
